Oops ... I accidentally clicked "submit" on the Giveaway Tool for the Post a Tweet, before clicking on the link to post to my Twitter. I hope that won't disqualify me 🙁

Marc + Forum Friends, since there's no option to un-submit the entry, do any of you have suggestions on what to do if this happens again in the future for any of us? 🙂

Thanks! 🙂

My cats aren't so keen on me winning this giveaway, having seen the title of the book. They think dogs are for training, and cats are for worshipping!! ?

Arghh!! I've just done it again! Pressed submit on the tweet button, before actually tweeting! So I've gone into twitter and copied the text from a previous tweet, and tweeted that. Hope that counts? All I could think of doing.

Ah Rose, I wish I were as smart as you! Copying and Pasting from the previous Tweet if we forget to do it before clicking submit. That's a really great idea actually for next time if we accidentally click submit! 🙂 That's funny that you mentioned "cats are for worshiping", because I think that's so true haha. More of a reason they need their mama to read the trainable cat! 😉 hehe

Good luck to everyone who has entered, and also hoping to win this book as well 🙂

He he, I'm not that smart Anita - I didn't think of doing that the first time I pressed submit without tweeting! ? Brain must've woke up yesterday. ? Our cats definitely act like they all should be worshipped, and I guess in some ways we do. They have an un-ending supply of toys, scratchers, trees, treats etc. Gifts to our cat deities he he. ? They must be of a certain standard too, to be appreciated.

I'd really love to win this book, but wishing everyone else entered good luck too. (Perhaps the winner could pass the book onto me once they've read it? He he ?).

Cat deities .. ha! That's too funny. Yeah, cats definitely have more toys than dogs huh? Well I guess that depends on each family too, but I feel like the amount of toys per cat compared to per dog is definitely greater with cats 😛 Anyways, you're still smarter than me, since you came up with the idea to solve our little problem! Hehe

I still need to learn how to calm my kitties down! I mean yeah, I see a lot of people online saying enjoy while you can, but sometimes I just want the comfort of knowing I don't have to be disciplining them all the time 🙁 I don't want them to get so scared of me that they don't even come close to me. I'm not that mean haha I usually just point my finger at whichever one is causing trouble followed by a NO! But I know they're kittens and just want to play and burn up all that energy they have inside them. It would be fun to learn how to properly train them so they can finally be calm, good kitties :3 hehe

Well Anita, one time when one of Si's nieces came round, she asked "Is there anywhere in this house that doesn't have something for the cats?", so that may give you an idea of how many things they have. But then there are 8 of them, and 5 are indoor cats who need the extra stimulation. You're right though, it does depend on the family too. I've been to houses where they've had a kitten with just one or two toys, and couldn't understand why the kitten kept (playfully) attacking their hands and ankles!

I did find it more difficult to get Taivas and Onni to learn NO, than I have the other cats. They came together, which was great for them and the other cats, as they played with each other, which gave the other cats time to get to know them. But trying to discipline them was so slow! They still jump up on the kitchen worktops ? I think they're just like toddlers, and if there are two of them around, their focus is on each other, rather than you. That's my theory anyway. If I'm lucky enough to win the book, I can see if they have a view about it.

I completely agree with your theory on how their attention is focused more on each other rather than their owners. Sometimes when I tell them NO, I'd give them a few taps on the nose hehe. Yes, if either one of us is lucky enough to win the book, maybe we could help answer more questions that we both have! That would be really awesome~! Or we could mail it to the other person when we're done like you had suggested in an earlier post 😉

I'm guessing it's just extremely  gentle taps your using on their noses Anita, just to grab their attention? I've found positive reinforcement works well. As soon as they're performing a behaviour you want, or letting you do something they don't really like, they get a treat. Depending on the cat, this could be a food treat, extra fuses, play with a certain toy - whatever is their favourite thing. If they do something I don't want them to do, I say "NO CATS NAME" in a firm voice, if they're in a place I don't want them to be I'll move them, additionally saying "DOWN" or "OUT" etc using a stern voice. I personally don't like to tap their noses, are tap or smack anywhere. I prefer to just ignore them for a while, although I find that very difficult! No talking to them, and no looking at them and definitely no eye contact! I have to be consistant with them, and use the same command words all the time. This is just my method, after reading a few books and finding out what works best for me and my cats. I think this book would be really great for you Anita, being a relatively new cat Momma. Good luck. ?
